How do we make an impact in Northern Virginia? There are a lot of people who are trying to do good in our community. Many of them are not Christians. So what is the difference in what we’re trying to do? What makes us distinct is that we have what the world needs and that is the good news of the gospel.

We are not a church that is only interested in us. We believe God has placed us here to imapact Northern Virginia. We want to serve our neighbors. Are you a godly neighbor? Do you pass the Neighbor Test? Do you love God by loving your neighbor? 

Psalm 103:2 says, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.” Remembering who God is and what he has done is so important to the Christian because remembering stokes the fire of our hearts to worship God. 

We are starting a new sermon series called, “Let’s Talk.” We want to learn how to talk to the most important people in our lives and that starts with God. One of our pillars at Harvest is “believing firmly in the power of prayer.” Lets look at Luke 18 to see what God would have us talk to Him. 

We finish our series, Encounter Christ, looking at the effect Jesus had on his disciples, transforming them from timid, doubting men to unafraid witnesses of the gospel.  

Pastor Jeff is starting a new sermon series where we study the narratives of people who “Encounter Christ.” These narratives will show us that when we encounter Christ our lives change. In this first sermon of this series, Pastor Jeff preaches from Luke 5, challenging us to “leave the boat.”
