In Mark 1:21-45 we see that Jesus is the Powerful, Popular, Prayed-up, Pitying Preacher. He is constantly seeking ways to serve the physical needs of the people without losing sight of his ultimate goal of meeting the spiritual need of everyone. Let us also not lose sight of the gospel that motivates us to serve others and make disciples.

What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus? As a church we want to make sure that we are striving for a quality of discipleship and not just quantity. As we continue through Mark chapter one we can see and follow the example of Jesus as he calls the disciples to follow him.

We are starting our new sermon series through the Gospel of Mark. We start in chapter 1 by asking the question, what happens if we misunderstand Jesus?  Misunderstanding Jesus can be the difference between life and death, joy and despair, truth and lies, meaning and purpose. Mark’s writings will help us to understand and believe that Jesus is the Son of God.
